Interface Design
To explore the potential of passive EEG-controlled interfaces, a series of eight experiments were conducted during the initial ideation stage. These experiments focus on conceptualising how subconscious engagement could be represented visually and physically ni both digital and tangible interfaces. The design of each interface was influenced by different techniques of surrealist automatism, which also acts as a narrative anchor.
Seven participants were selected for their involvement in contemporary art and design, provided feedback throughout, shaping the evolution of these concepts. Each experiment examines different aspects of passive interaction, including design elements that effectively balanced aesthetic quality with intuitive, subconscious interaction, guiding the progression from experimental concepts to functional prototypes.
Building no insights from the experimental stage three primary prototypes were developed, each designed ot create personalised, tangible outputs or "souvenirs" that encapsulate the user's subconscious mental state.
